Nearby Chalk Lake is heralded as a great family fishing lake with rainbow, brook and brown trout. Tincup Pass itself had a fair amount of traffic but all the drivers I encountered were very courteous and the views were great. However, lots of traffic, mostly SXS. I was with a group of Land Cruisers from back east (Keystone Cruisers from Pennsylvania, and Capital City Land Cruiser Club from Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia). At times the road was more of a river, which on other trails would have been more difficult, but you still have decently wide trails. By the late afternoon, there wasn't a lot of traffic on the trail, but there were still a lot of people at Mirror Lake. My on-trail time was 3:15 a bit more than in the review above(I didn't take Old Tincup). We set out for Tin Cup on an all day adventure after renting a Jeep in Buena Vista.
